Registrations are now open and green fingered gardeners can purchase an annual brown bin subscription. Prices have remained at a competitive £49, and each licence will cover a fixed calendar year from 1 March 2025 to 28 February 2026, regardless of when purchased.

Councillor Ian Middleton, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services, said: “I always enjoy this time of year, as we see spring starting to appear with the days getting longer and hopefully warmer. I, like many I’m sure, will be eager to get outside to tidy the garden ready for the new planting season.

“Our garden waste collection service is an easy way to ensure that any excess cuttings and clippings you generate whilst working on your garden, that can’t be composted at home, still go towards helping to maintain future soil health by means of our council composting facility.”

Once subscribed, all customers will receive a welcome pack in the post that includes their subscription licence label, which they will need to put on their brown bin.
