At Bicester Motion on Thursday, 13 February, attendees at the event heard from speakers representing Cherwell District Council, Bicester Motion, Oxfordshire County Council, and Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
Councillor Lesley McLean, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Finance, Property and Regeneration, said: “We were delighted to host this event that gives individuals and businesses from across Cherwell the opportunity to come together to discuss the key factors at the heart of developing and driving economic growth.
“It was fantastic to see so many different industries and representatives networking and developing what I hope will be long and successful partnerships.”
The packed morning gave attendees a unique opportunity to explore key council initiatives, and discuss channels for driving business growth, the latest developments in the council’s Local Plan Review and countywide measures to encourage economic prosperity.
An open workshop generated wide ranging discussions, hands-on collaboration, and valuable feedback on growth and market opportunities. This allowed the council to hear directly from delegates about the opportunities and challenges shaping the district’s business landscape.
Cllr McLean added: “Cherwell is set to play a key role in the UK’s economy, and this administration recognises the need to get involved to create ‘community and place’ to ensure businesses can attract and retain talent. Our Area Oversight Groups are working alongside business and agencies to identify failing infrastructure, and press government agencies for national level support.”
