Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy
Our strategy
The Homelessness Act 2002 requires all local housing authorities to carry out a homelessness review for their district and publish a homelessness strategy based on the results at least every five years.
There has since been a major change in homelessness legislation, with the implementation of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, in April 2018. This places new legal duties on English councils so that everyone who is homeless or at risk of homelessness will have access to meaningful help, irrespective of their priority need status, as long as they are eligible for assistance.
Our current homelessness and rough sleeping strategy 2024-2029 was approved by Executive on 5 February 2024.
Our strategy is based on the results of a homelessness review which covers trends in homelessness in our district since our last strategy was published.
We have undertaken an assessment of the impact of delivering this strategy on individuals and groups, and on the wider community and environment.
