Following the introduction of the Building Safety Act 2022, there has been a change to Section 16 (deposit of plans) of the Building Act 1984.
Clients that intend to carry out non-higher-risk building work that opt for a local authority as its building control body, and where the work would previously have required full plans, must now submit a building control approval application with full plans to the local authority.
The application must include:
- A completed ‘Application for Building Control Approval with Full Plans’ form
- A completed ‘Full Plans Notes and Checklist’ form
- All detailed plans, sections and elevations, incorporating all necessary technical notes, supporting calculations and specifications
- A block plan (1:500, or 1:1250 scale plan showing the size and position of the building, or the building as extended, and its relationship to adjoining boundaries)
- Payment
The completed application should be sent to building.control@cherwell-dc.gov.uk
