Vital centres
The Cherwell District in north Oxfordshire is a predominantly rural area with three urban centres:
- Banbury
- Bicester
- Kidlington
These centres are where the majority of residents live and businesses are based.
Major growth in the towns of Banbury and Bicester is underway, including significant new housing, employment premises and town centre schemes. Kidlington is home to the London Oxford Airport and Oxford University’s Begbroke Science Park, with other rural parishes containing a wealth of enterprise.
Town centre projects
Makespace Oxford and partners have teamed up with Oxfordshire's district councils to launch a new £1.7m programme to breathe life back into high streets and urban centres across Oxfordshire. This support will help our communities to bounce forward from COVID-19 over the next year.
