Homeowners and neighbours
Responsibility for repairs
If you own the home, you are responsible for repairs even if you do not live in the property:-
- Private landlords are legally required to carry out certain repairs.
- Owners of empty homes can incur significant maintenance costs as minor problems are not seen early and addressed.
If you neglect a property, and it affects your neighbours, we can ask you to make repairs and you may be liable for any damage caused to your neighbour's property.
