Digital connectivity
Our aim: for all businesses to have access to full fibre connectivity
Working in partnership, we have invested in the provision of digital infrastructure throughout the district, recognising its importance in creating a great district in which to live, work, visit and invest.
The result is that over 98 per cent of premises in Cherwell are now able to gain ‘Superfast Broadband’ (speeds greater than 24 megabits per second). Our ambition is not only to achieve full coverage but also to enable the provision – ahead of time - for the ever-advancing technological needs of our economy.
Gigabit Voucher Scheme
The Government is providing up to £210m worth of voucher funding as immediate help for people experiencing slow broadband speeds in rural areas.
Vouchers worth up to £1,500 for homes and £3,500 for businesses help to cover the costs of installing gigabit broadband to people’s doorsteps.
Digital Infrastructure Programme
The Digital Infrastructure Programme now comprises four projects, with ‘Better Broadband for Oxfordshire’ being the original programme. This has evolved to incorporate other digital infrastructure requirements across Oxfordshire:
- Better Broadband for Oxfordshire Programme
- Businesses in Rural Oxfordshire
- Local Full Fibre Networks
- Mobile coverage
