Business Rates Instalments
Payment of business rate bills is automatically set on a 10-monthly cycle. However if you wish to pay over 12 months contact us at business.rates@cherwell-dc.gov.uk as soon as possible quoting your Business Rates account number.
We also accept payment bi-annually, or in one lump sum at the beginning of the year.
Ways to pay for your Business Rates
There are a number of ways you can pay your business rates. Whichever way you choose always make sure to quote your Business Rates account number.
By Direct Debit
Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay. Payments are made automatically by your bank or building society and you're fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee.
We offer you a choice of dates if you pay your Business Rates by Direct Debit. This means that you can pay your monthly instalments on a date more convenient for you.
A bill will be sent confirming the instalments to be debited from your bank account 10 working days before the first instalment is due.
Online
Pay your Business Rates online
Make sure you pay on or before the instalment due date to avoid recovery action. Only one reminder is issued each year before you lose your right to pay by instalments.

Post
Make your cheque or postal order payable to "Cherwell District Council". It must be crossed "account payee only" and ensure your Business Rates account number is written on the reverse of the cheque. Post to:

Please do not send cash by post and do not staple, pin or fold cheques. We no longer issue receipts for payments made by cheque.
In person
At any Post Office in the country. You must take your business rates bill with the barcode on it along with your payment.
You must take a barcoded bill or letter along with your payment. Please allow five working days for your payment to be received.
