Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)

In partnership with Thames Valley Police

We have a CCTV network covering three main urban areas, Banbury, Bicester and Kidlington.

The cameras are monitored by Thames Valley Police in the control room at Banbury Police Station where information is retained for 28 days, and then destroyed.

Should you wish to request footage please log a report via 101 or online on the Thames Valley Police website using the 'report a crime' section and referencing 'access request'

What is CCTV and why do we use it?

CCTV stands for closed circuit television and is the term used to cover various types of video monitoring and security cameras. We use CCTV to help:

  • keep Cherwell a safe and clean place to live, work and visit,
  • reduce antisocial behaviour, youth nuisance, drug and alcohol misuse, and to provide public reassurance,
  • secure arrests and prosecutions of perpetrators of crimes and anti-social behaviour.
